New Mexico Employment Data
Located in the Southwest region, the Land of Enchantment is known for abundant natural resources, federal military bases and research centers, and an excellent transportation infrastructure. Historically a ranching and mining state, today new Mexico’s economy is driven by crude oil and natural gas production, federal government spending, and high-tech and commercial space industries. Economic challenges include an overdependence on public sector employment, low per capita income, and some of the poorest rural areas in the U.S. (Source: New Mexico Economic Development Dept.)
