Located in the northwestern region of the United States, Idaho is a mountainous state, known for its agriculture (… Idaho potatoes are just the beginning). Recent initiatives are trying to integrate technology with agriculture to boost the State’s economy.

Based on 2013 statistics, the government sector employs the greatest percentage of workers in the state, followed by retail trade; health care and social assistance; manufacturing; and accommodation and food services, respectively.
The largest employers in the state include the State of Idaho, the Federal Government, St. Luke’s Health System, Wal-Mart, Micron Technology, Brigham-Young University-Idaho, Meridian Joint School District #2, Boise Independent School District #1, Battelle Energy Alliance, and St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. (Source: Merritt Research Services, LLC)

The latest employment scorecard for the State of Idaho for August 2016 to August 2017 is listed below, based on data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Idaho’s labor force was basically flat over this time period, increasing by only 0.39 percent.
