State of Rhode Island Demographics
Located in the New England region of the U.S., the Ocean State’s recovery is a work in progress, underperforming the nation in most economic gauges. Today, much of the economy of Rhode Island is based in services, particularly healthcare and education, and still to some extent, manufacturing. Economic strengths include excellent higher education institutions, strong links to Boston, and high per capita income. Rhode Island’s employment scorecard was fairly positive, seeing slight growth in the labor force of 0.7 percent, and labor force participation rate growth of 0.2 percent, and the unemployment rate falling by 1.0 percent to 4.3 percent.
