Medicaid for More? Rockefeller Institute Forum

Feb 25, 2019 - February 25, 2019
Nelson A. Rockefeller Institute of Government , 411 State Street

Event Description:

Access to quality and affordable health care was one of the top issues of the 2018 elections. An amended version of the NY Health Act — a single-payer proposal — was recently introduced in Albany, and that proposal continues to garner a lot of attention.

Another proposal offered at both the state and national levels would allow individuals to “buy in” to the large existing public programs of Medicaid and Medicare. The Rockefeller Institute of Government recently published a report identifying and describing the key issues that should be considered in evaluating a Medicaid buy-in proposal. Many of these considerations apply to Medicare and “single-payer” proposals as well.

Join us for a vigorous health policy discussion with the authors of the Medicaid for More proposal: John Kaelin, visiting fellow at the Rockefeller Institute of Government, and Katherine Hempstead, senior policy adviser at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Their presentation will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A session.
